Privacy Policy

For Four Ways. Last updated: on release.

This policy explains what Four Ways does with your information. The short answer is very little, and almost all of it stays on your phone. If anything here is unclear, ask us at harfredlabs@gmail.com.

The short version

What stays on your device

Tickets you mark as placed, the stakes and results you record, and your settings — default stake, bookmaker, which tickets to show — are kept in your browser's or the app's own storage on the device (IndexedDB and localStorage). So is a copy of the day's odds, so a second open costs nothing. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.

Deleting the app, or clearing this site's data in your browser, deletes all of it. We cannot recover it, because we never had it. The sample day at /demo is built on the device and saves nothing.

What leaves your device

Where the odds come from

Prices come from The Odds API, which collects them from Australian bookmakers. Our server fetches them once a day for everyone. Your device never contacts The Odds API or any bookmaker through Four Ways, so they learn nothing about you from it.

Odds can be wrong, late or out of date, and bookmakers change their prices all day. Check the price in your own bookmaker before you place anything.

What we do not do

Service providers

These providers operate internationally, so server logs may be processed in a country other than your own. We rely on the safeguards those providers offer for transfers of that kind.

Children

Four Ways is for adults. It is not directed at anyone under 18, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to harfredlabs@gmail.com and we will delete it.

How long we keep things

Data on your device lasts until you delete it or remove the app. Each day's odds are kept on our server as a file that contains prices and nothing about anyone. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and diagnostics, then deleted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — in Australia, under the Privacy Act 1988 — you may have the right to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We hold almost nothing: no account, no bets, only the server logs above. Ask us at harfredlabs@gmail.com and we will respond within the time your local law requires, and in any case within 30 days.

The rest you can do yourself: deleting the app, or clearing this site's data, removes everything Four Ways stored on your device.

Security

Data sent between the app and our server travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, so we do not claim otherwise — but we keep the amount of information we hold small, which is the most effective protection available.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
